FMLA 2.0 – Dealing with Leaves of Absence
The law has created an environment for employers dealing with the Family and Medical Leave laws and Americans with Disabilities Act to develop operational policies and implement documents to alert employees of their rights. Those policies and procedures are necessary to protect the company from asserted rights to FMLA or other protected time off, sometimes months after the actual absence or illness. Couple this with the challenges of the Americans with Disabilities Act for employees who have physical and mental challenges, and decisions regarding leaves of absence can be fraught with peril.
This program will discuss in greater detail the most recent challenges faced by employers in FMLA compliance as well as the process suggested for employers to integrate compliance responsibilities.
