September/October 2015

President's Message

Our 2015-16 FEI Program Year got off to a great start at the September 15th Meeting. We had a very informative PD Session based on Social Security and Retirement Rules of Thumb that Meredith Ehn presented from Francis Investment Counsel. That program sparked a lot of interest and question activity. The PD program was followed up by our Keynote Speaker, Chad Kopitzke, who is the Founder of NeXtGen Advantage. Chad spoke on the topic of the Millennial Generation, how they are changing the talent landscape, why it matters and what you can do to connect with them. This was a very lively and informative topic that will make all of us do a lot of soul searching as we look to the future of talent management and retaining our valued employees. We actually had to cut the question and answer period short to keep things moving. We have the contact information of both Meredith and Chad if anyone is interested.

For those of you that were in attendance, we ask that you take the time to fill out the short survey regarding our first meeting at Bridgewood Conference Center in Neenah. The feedback really helps guide us as we plan future meetings. Our next scheduled meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 20th at Rock Garden Conference Center in Green Bay. The PD session will be focused on Cyber Security and will be presented by Grant Thornton with panel discussions from Godfrey & Kahn and AON.  Our Keynote Speakers will be Rick Schepp (Chief Administrative Officer) and Steve Thomas (Chief Risk and Compliance Officer) from Kohl’s Corporation.

In closing, we ask you to pass on quality speakers or PD session information of different seminars or leadership conferences you have attended that you believe would provide quality future FEI meetings and/or programs. Thanks much and we will see you in October!

Thank you to those who completed the Diversity Survey. The results were diverse in needs and expectations from men wanting to be involved and get an understanding of women concerns, to women who want to be seen as members of the business community vs. women in business, to women who prefer to discuss women issues without men present. We will try to plan events to meet each of these views.

Special Feature: LIVE2LEAD Conference

We had a great September Chapter meeting and there were several prospective members in attendance. As we have noted previously, the FEI National Office is once again allowing chapters to select two months during the year to offer a discounted rate to new members ($399.00 for the National dues versus $525.00). This has been a very popular promotion around the country. We are offering this promotion to our Chapter during the month of October 2015.

On Friday, October 16th you are welcome to attend the LIVE2LEAD Leadership Web Conference at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel. Please click here for full details.
